SOUTH BAY SANDBLASTING & TANK CLEANING, INC. located in San Diego, CA shipyard related subcontractor looking to hire a Warehouse Helper/Yard Support.

Summary:

General housekeeping and organization around the yard/warehouse; assist with errands/runs for parts and supplies. Keep tools, materials, and work areas tidy and safe.

Must be in San Diego California, we are not looking to relocate candidates at this time.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Sweep, mop, and keep shop/yard work areas clean and organized
• Organize tools, hoses, fittings, consumables, and inventory; restock as needed
• Stage, move, load/unload materials and equipment (with proper lifting practices)
• Break down cardboard, manage trash/recyclables, and keep walkways clear
• Make occasional runs to pick up parts/supplies or drop-offs (company vehicle if available)
• Assist techs with odd jobs (tagging/labeling, light prep, simple errands)
• Follow safety procedures and report hazards or shortages
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Reliable, on time, and able to follow directions
• Comfortable with physical work (lifting up to ~50 lbs., standing, bending)
• Valid driver's license
• Able to work safely around industrial equipment and chemicals (PPE provided)
• Basic organization skills; attention to detail

Nice to Haves (but not required)

• Forklift or pallet jack experience/certification
• Basic tool familiarity
• Prior warehouse / yard or facilities experience

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED, preferred but not required

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry the same for short distances and up and down stairs and steep inclines
• The work requires long periods of sitting in awkward positions, standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching, and climbing up and over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge and boat structural members.

Other requirements:

All positions require a pre-employment medical test. This employer participates in E-Verify. Must be able to qualify for DBIDS security clearance. Ability to read technical English is a must. U.S. Citizenship is preferred (for some work locations it is required). Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
