Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling or a related field, active School Counselor license and 1+ years School Counselor experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This opportunity is for a licensed Mental Health Professional or School Social Worker to provide essential therapy services within a K-12 school environment in Avoca, Iowa. The role serves a diverse caseload of students, addressing their social, emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs through direct counseling and collaboration with educational and community resources.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) from a CSWE-accredited program or equivalent mental health master's degree.
• Iowa licensure as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), or equivalent recognized by the Iowa Department of Health.
• School Social Work Endorsement or Statement of Professional Recognition from the Iowa Department of Education.
• Minimum two years of post-degree supervised clinical experience in mental health assessment and service provision.
• Licensed Mental Health Professional recognized by the Iowa Board of Behavioral Health (if applicable).

Location and Schedule:

• Work onsite in Avoca, IA.
• Hybrid schedule consisting of two days at Lenox, two days at Cam, and one day at AHSTW.
• Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Caseload includes students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
• Daily therapy sessions with approximately 6-8 students.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and family support services.
• Collaborate with teachers, mental health specialists, community agencies, and families to enhance student well-being and academic success.
• Conduct assessments, develop intervention plans, and implement behavior management strategies.
• Serve as a liaison among home, school, and community resources to coordinate comprehensive support.
• Facilitate professional development opportunities and keep abreast of relevant research.
• Participate in coordination of services and communication with multidisciplinary teams.

Physical and Professional Requirements:

• Ability to travel within assigned school locations.
• Effective communication skills, with good visual and motor coordination.
• Commitment to regular attendance and professional responsibilities.
