WHAT YOULL DO

At Seakeeper, we are more than the global leader in marine stabilization. We change boating and the way people experience the water! As our Innovation Manager, youll be the visionary leader, accelerating our innovation and shaping the future of our product roadmap. Youll focus on early-stage concept development, rapid prototyping, and feasibility testing to deliver commercially viable solutions. We will give you the space to try new things (and fail sometimes!), push boundaries and challenge conventional thinking to create the next evolution of our technologies. Youll play a transformational role in shaping our vision for the future by:

Leadership

• Hiring, developing, and leading a diverse team of multi-disciplined engineers to meet the demands of our long-term strategy
• Encouraging and investing existing team culture of creativity, collaboration and curiosity
• Collaborating cross-functionally with internal and external partners, ensuring innovation aligns with business growth strategies and market needs

Innovation

• Ensuring that we stay at the forefront of innovation in the marine technology sector by identifying and evaluating emerging technologies, trends, and materials to drive innovation
  • Bringing those new ideas and next-gen technologies to the forefront of our development efforts
  • Identifying new technology development pathways and the opportunities they could yield
• Conducting feasibility studies, proof-of-concept testing, and rapid prototyping to assess new Seakeepers technology pipeline
• Creating and communicating a coherent short-term and long-term strategy for expanding product capabilities
• Participating in technical discussions and documentation reviews, promoting data-driven decisions and a growth-focused culture
• Developing implementation packages, providing proper background, engineering calculators, and design rules allowing the product engineering team to implement technological advancements into next-generation products

Collaboration

• Becoming a Seakeeper technology expert across multiple engineering disciplines
• Understanding and working with our product engineering team to understand current design limitations
• Working with suppliers to understand current manufacturing limitations

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Do you have a positive attitude, an eagerness to learn and the ability to lead by example in a fast-paced environment? Then Seakeeper is the place for you! Here are a few other things youll need to succeed.

MUST-HAVES

• Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, or a similarly applicable field
• 7+ years of innovation, R&D, technology development and/or product development experience including:
  • 2+ years of project ownership or engineering management
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience or experience mentoring others
  • Senior-level technical contributor with a demonstrated ability to contribute at the system-level of product design - must fully grasp technical trade-offs of design decisions
  • Experience contributing to the development of technology and/or product development roadmaps with a 5+ year horizon
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate discussions and reach compromises amongst other senior engineers
• The ability and patience to take complicated technical problems and present them in laymans terms to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience communicating timelines, goals, and budgets to project stakeholders

NICE-TO-HAVES

• Masters degree in a technical discipline, such as mechanical or electrical engineering
• Expertise in mechatronic and/or hydraulic systems development
• Experience working in a technology development, R&D, or innovation managerial role

MORE DETAILS YOULL WANT TO KNOW

• Youll be based in our Leesport, PA facility and on-site at least 4 days per week
• Relocation assistance will be provided, if applicable
• Youll report to the Director of Gyro Engineering, also based in Leesport, PA
• On-the-job technical resources and training will be provided (we will help you become a Seakeeper expert!)
• Your team will be comprised of 6 who are experts within their disciplines and have various tenure, with the expectation that this team will continue to grow

In 2022, we added another jaw-dropping technology to our portfolio with the launch of Seakeeper Ride, a first-of-its-kind Vessel Attitude Control System which eliminates underway pitch and roll, making time on the water safer and more comfortable for everyone onboard.
